Triangle Parade of Homes 2023

Sharing is caring!

Happy Money Monday, welcome to another weekend recap, a new series on the blog I’ve started as a way to recap everything I did and spent over the weekend.

This weekend I tried a new restaurant, saw a movie and toured million dollar homes during the last weekend of the parade of homes.

FRIDAY: CHILL DAY OFF

I took the day off on Friday and used it to sleep in and read. I booked a 12:00pm core climber class through class pass and treated myself to Starbucks and a pedicure ($55).

Afterward, I went home and watched Half & Half. If you’ll recall I’ve been trying to watch every episode since the last day it will be on Netflix is 10/15.

I didn’t get to the last episode but I did make it to the last season… I’ll need to figure out how I can finish watching the last few episodes – let me know if you have any suggestions!

I started getting ready for a dinner date and wine tasting at Sixty Vines. We got shared plates including a cheese board brussel sprouts, fried chicken caviar, a caesar salad and the wood grilled shrimp ($136).

Truthfully, the wine was great but the food was just ok. I’ll go back for sure but only for the wine and to try their dessert.

SATURDAY: MOVIES + ICE CREAM

On Saturday my boyfriend and I cleaned up the apartment and went to see a new movie in theaters called The Creator.

If you like science fiction films you might enjoy this but personally, it was not my cup of tea. Without giving too much away, the movie is basically about a war between the human race and artificial intelligence.

When the movie was over I treated my boyfriend to Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. We both got the oreo cookie dough cone. This was my first time trying this place but it definitely will not be my last.

They have so many flavors I want to try. I always get oreo flavored ice cream, it’s been my favorite my whole life. Though with so many options, I’ll have to step out of my comfort zone!

SUNDAY: RALEIGH PARADE OF HOMES

The parade of homes is the “largest open house” which brings out thousands of people, both prospective homebuyers and HGTV lovers like myself.

It’s a free event with 100+ newly constructed homes and although it might sound overwhelming, it’s pretty easy to navigate.

You simply add the homes you like to “your tour” and create a map that will route you to each home or stop along the way.

The homes we saw were all over a million dollars. We saw one house that had a sauna, steam room and movie theater inside. It was beautiful!

I only had the energy to tour a few homes, I was hungry and dealing with a slight headache. So, I went to CAVA and the bookstore before I headed home to take a nap and get ready for the week ahead.
